Milan’s lineup news tomorrow against Udinese: Conceicao could make a surprise move involving the attack

Thursday’s eve for Milan, which returns to the pitch tomorrow to face Udinese in the league. The Rossoneri have little else to say to this Serie A: the Champions League is now gone and even reaching the Europa League is complicated. To at least try, the Rossoneri need to win, but with the approach of the last few matches against a team as organized as Runjaić’s will be difficult to bring home the three points. Sergio Conceicao has had another week off to work as best he can: so far, from the Champions League elimination onwards, there has been no improvement whatsoever in any respect, despite the time available.
We are unlikely to see these improvements now, especially with the knowledge that Conceicao will leave in June. However, the Portuguese coach wants to try to at least shake things up, and for this reason he seems intent on coming up with an interesting tactical novelty for the match in Friuli: it is not something new at all, but the idea is to reintroduce it with different players.
Conceicao cambia modulo
Shortly after the end of the January market, following the arrival of Joao Felix and Gimenez, Conceicao had often deployed Milan with a sort of 4-4-2, with the two signings together as strikers and Leao-Pulisic on the flanks. An experiment that did not bring results, in fact: it was a total disaster. And for this reason the coach shelved the idea, proposing the usual line-up with a trequartista (which changed several times).

Conceicao, however, cannot ignore Luka Jovic’s good moment. The Serbian has done very well in recent weeks when called upon; he even scored two goals against Napoli and Fiorentina. That is why a starting place for him is likely for tomorrow’s match against Udinese, but not alone. Abraham has had knee problems in recent days but nothing worrying, and that is why he is at Conceicao’s disposal: the Englishman and Jovic could therefore take the field together from the first minute in a new 4-4-2 (in doubt Gimenez, struggling with a hip knock suffered against Fiorentina).
Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic the outfielders on the left and right respectively with Reijnders and probably Fofana in the middle of the field. The Frenchman, after a period of decline, has given good responses in recent matches and thus has a good chance of playing from the first minute. In defense, without Walker (injured elbow), there should be Alex Jimenez with Gabbia, Tomori and the usual Theo Hernandez in front of Maignan.
