We are just hours away from an important event for Milan’s season. The Rossoneri are expected tonight at the Diego Armando Maradona to face Antonio Conte’s Napoli, in the race to win the Scudetto along with Inter Milan (ahead by three points after the last weekend before the break). Sergio Conceicao’s team has no other result than success to try to keep alive the fourth-place dream and thus qualification for the next Champions League.
In these days of rest, the coach was able to work with a small group of players but it was a good opportunity to work on some principles and recover the best physical condition. The coach spoke in a press conference yesterday and, as always, did not give any big indications regarding the lineup but the rumors coming from Milanello are making the fans quite a lot of discussion on social in these hours. Conceicao, in fact, barring any last-minute second thoughts, would be thinking about a made sensational (though not new) choice.

Over the course of these days we had already told you about the possible surprises in midfield and attack: Loftus-Cheek and Abraham. And, according to the latest rumors, it seems that this will be the case: the former could replace Fofana and thus complete the department along with Bondo and Reijnders, while the latter should take the place of Santiago Gimenez (who returned battered from the national team). But there will probably be a resounding third choice.

In fact, Conceicao is considering keeping Rafael Leao out of the starting lineup once again. This is not the first time this has happened since the new coach has been there (and even with Fonseca for a time he had lost his place): on all these occasions, however, Rafa has come in at the start of the second half and left his mark with a goal or an assist. Perhaps the coach’s strategy is just that: to exploit Leao’s qualities in the running game to try to enliven the offensive phase.
In his place then is Joao Felix, a protégé of Conceicao who has given him plenty of space even when he did not deserve it. A choice that will surely cause discussion especially if things go wrong. Leao is Milan’s best player by performance this season, the only one able to turn on the light in a team that does not seem to have big ideas from the point of view of the game proposal.
