Vanoli’s Torino after a resounding start was lost and the end of the first half of the season was not the best. In the return leg, however, the granata have radically changed their trend. In the 10 matches played so far, in fact, Toro has won 5, drawn 4 and lost only 1. Having earned 17 points in the second half of the season, the granata would be in fifth position in the Serie A standings, which count only the points scored after the turnaround. Vanoli’s boys with the change of form are playing much better and are able to make the most of the chances they manage to create. Even when the team fails to play well, Toro still manages to bring home a positive result, such as against Empoli, a match in which the granata did not create much but managed to win with a goal by Vlasic.
Il Toro di Vanoli: dal derby al pareggio contro l’Atalanta
Vanoli’s Toro has shown that it is capable of getting useful results almost every time in this round of the season. The second phase of the championship started with a draw in the Derby della Mole, a match in which players and coach gave everything, managing to recover the initial 0-1 disadvantage thanks to a great goal by Vlasic from outside the box with his left foot. Then the 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, playing by the way most of the match in 10. Scoring the equalizing goal had been Gienitis. The first win of the return leg came 2-0 over Cagliari thanks to a brace by a very inspired Che Adams. The next game was against Atalanta in Bergamo. The Granata managed to earn a tough point thanks to Maripan’s goal and MIlinkovic-Savic saving Retegui’s penalty.
I granata fermati solo dal Bologna
The granata then drew against Genoa 1-1 because of a mistake in setting up by Coco. Then came the only defeat for Toro in the return leg: the one against Bologna 3-2. Vanoli’s boys, however, quickly recovered and managed to beat Milan 2-1 at home. The next challenge was against Monza with Toro winning 2-0 thanks to new signings Elmas and Casadei. Then came the draw with Parma 2-2 and finally the victory against Empoli 1-0.
