Coco, after national team goal for Lazio: defender gambles on future

Rientrato con il sorriso dalla sosta, il difensore ha ora 9 partite di campionato per giocarsi la riconferma nella prossima stagione

Having archived the break for national teams, Torino is preparing to return to the field for the challenge against Lazio scheduled for Monday, March 31. Many granata players took the field in their countries’ jerseys this week, which saw some more and some less all happy. In particular, it was an all round positive stop for Saul Coco, who was busy with his Equatorial Guinea in the World Cup qualifying challenges. In the first one came an important victory, while in the last one a draw in which he nevertheless made himself decisive thanks to the third goal scored of his season. Now the defender returns from Africa with more serenity than when he left; serenity that is necessary, since nine games await him in which his future will be at stake.

Ora continuità

If before the challenge against Empoli one of the main themes was the negative performance of the former Las Palmas man, the latter somewhat made his detractors think again in the 1-0 win before the break. This gave him a chance to spend two more peaceful weeks, playing for his national team and projecting himself to the match against Lazio. Precisely Monday night’s challenge will already be an important first test for the number 23, who after showing an erratic performance throughout the season is now playing for his permanence in the Granata.

Quale futuro?

As Vanoli said, with salvation already achieved and Europe hardly reachable, the next matches will be far from useless and will serve to understand who really can be part of next season’s Torino. In this sense, under the magnifying glass there is certainly also Coco, who has been cross and delight of this year: the Equatoguinean started well, deluding everyone a bit, then taking steps backwards. Now comes the climax, where he and others of his teammates are playing for the future.
