Milan is experiencing a moment of crisis. Not only from the point of view of results, which are a consequence, but also in terms of club management. Gerry Cardinale has not been seen or heard from for a very long time now: his last public appearance was in Madrid, on the occasion of the Santiago Bernabeu Champions League match, while he was last at the San Siro in August. From RedBird’s owner not even a phrase of congratulations for anniversary number 125 of the club last December.
Everything is in the hands of Giorgio Furlani, who met with Cardinale himself a few weeks ago in the States to set the record straight: he will be the one to decide on the new sporting director and not Ibrahimovic, who has not been seen in Milanello (the last time on the eve of the match with Lecce) or at the San Siro since then. In short, many unanswered questions for a club that, from the management point of view, leaves a lot to be desired. And Giovanni Galeone, interviewed by Corriere della Sera, also spoke about this.

A return to the bench of the former Juventus man is much talked about these days, also from the perspective of Milan, and that is why the former coach is often asked about it. In his interview with CorSera, he also made a very harsh criticism of the Rossoneri club.

In the crosshairs is precisely the ownership for what happened in that early June 2023. A choice that is still inexplicable today, “Today there are illiterates who demand university professorships. And in soccer it is the same. Go and explain it to the Milan people: they send away people like Maldini and Massara – among the best around – and put Ibrahimovic. Great footballer, for goodness sake. But what kind of manager is he? What society has the Rossoneri become? And of examples there are a thousand.” A real broadside that of Galeone towards the club.
The talk opened as he talked about his past and that unforgettable chat with Silvio Berlusconi: “In Vienna Milan won their second Champions League, it was 1990. Invited by Arrigo Sacchi I go to see the Rossoneri win and then in the party hotel I meet Berlusconi. Until 5 o’clock in the morning talking about soccer. And he says: well Galeone, call me that we have to continue this chat. Never picked up the phone: I hoped he would. And so what could have been, was not.”
