Gewiss Stadium to be found: Atalanta, six games without a home win

Atalanta is called to regain its home. The Gewiss Stadium, which has always been a symbol of identity and strength for the Bergamasque people, has not given any smiles since December: there have been six consecutive home matches without a win in Serie A, with a tally of four draws and two defeats. In 2025, in the league, the Nerazzurri have yet to score in front of their own public, and the last three challenges have ended with two 0-0s (Cagliari and Venezia) and the 2-0 loss cashed against Inter.

La Dea is ninth in terms of domestic performance with 25 points won at the Gewiss, a statistic that clashes with first place in the away league, where Atalanta has already scored 33 points, more than any other team. A home performance below expectations, especially for a formation that aspires to a place in the Champions League and, until a few weeks ago, was also cultivating Scudetto ambitions.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, after the away match in Florence against Fiorentina, the calendar will immediately test the Nerazzurri with two crucial challenges: Lazio and Bologna will come to Bergamo in quick succession, in two direct clashes that could prove decisive in the European sprint. Both are direct opponents for Europe, and getting full points will be crucial to relaunch Atalanta’s run.

The reasons for the home slowdown are multiple. First of all, the wait-and-see strategies adopted by opponents such as Cagliari and Venezia, who closed every space and forced Atalanta into sterile possession. The high pressing and intensity, hallmarks of Gasperini’s game, ran aground at the edge of the area, unable to break through closed and well-organized defenses. Even against Napoli, despite the quality of the Azzurri, the defeat appeared undeserved, the result more of episodes than technical superiority.

The home draw against Juventus left more regrets, especially considering the 4-0 thrashing of the Bianconeri in the return match. Bologna coach Thiago Motta adopts a similar style, leaving spaces that Atalanta could exploit, but a change of pace will be needed. There is no shortage of opportunities to reverse the home trend. Out of nine remaining days, five will see Atalanta engaged in Bergamo: in addition to Lazio and Bologna, Roma, Lecce and Parma will also arrive. Challenges different in nature and stimuli, but all crucial: the big ones for the Champions race, the others for salvation.

Atalanta has already demonstrated its ability to dominate, as evidenced by the six consecutive victories it achieved between October and December 2024, including five against mid- to lower-ranked teams. Gasperini knows the recipe for success, and all it will take to restart is to regain balance, lucidity in decisive plays and the usual compactness.

Gewiss Stadium must once again become a stronghold and not a brake. The Dea’s home has hidden victories, but it has not erased dreams and ideas. For Atalanta, it is time to rekindle the fans’ enthusiasm and turn Bergamo back into a conquering ground.
