A legend of the Rossoneri club has offered to lend a hand in rebuilding the club: first the club and then the team

Milan is a club in need of rebuilding. After the Scudetto in 2022 and the Champions League semifinal the following year, the Rossoneri have sunk again. Since June 2023, that is, since RedBird decided to remove Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, Milan has never fought for the Scudetto, has never gone to the round of 16 of the Champions League, and now, after four years in a row, risks not playing the next edition of the European tournament. Two years of disasters then, of completely wrong choices, chaos and continuous unsolved cases.
In June there is a new opportunity to start again but everything is still in the hands of Giorgio Furlani, the CEO: he will be the one to choose the sporting director, with Fabio Paratici in pole, and afterwards together with him the new coach. The feeling, however, is that even this may not be enough because Milan has a deep crisis of structure but also of identity, especially after Maldini’s farewell. A legend of the Rossoneri club has … proposed to help rebuild.
Rivera si propone al Milan: “Posso fare tutto”
Last December, just before Milan-Genoa (from that moment the fans’ protest began), the club “celebrated” the 125th anniversary with a very small and very brief pre-match event. Many great exes were present, but the absences made a lot of noise: Maldini, Boban, Altafini, and … Gianni Rivera. With the latter there have been judicial problems recently and that is what lies behind the club’s decision not to invite him.

Interviewed by Corriere della Sera, Rivera spoke about that absence for such an important event, he who has written so many pages of Milan history: “Also missing were Maldini, Boban, Altafini… they are in good company. Of course Milan without its history is not Milan. But what do you want the Americans to know about history and soccer?” A broadside to ownership, and then again it is hard to blame him: Milan has always made history and tradition its strength, but today with RedBird it seems to have become taboo. Then Rivera launches the provocation regarding the team’s problems: “First of all, the company must be redesigned. If they want me as a consultant I could give good advice. I can do everything from president to coach and play the last six minutes….”
