We need to restart from the reaction of the final minutes

Solo 4 squadre in Europa meglio dei crociati per reti realizzate nell’ultimo quarto d’ora

In the post-match press conference following the draw with Monza, Cristian Chivu said, “I would like to see this team propose and not chase the result.” In the last three matches in fact, Parma has always come up short, against Udinese, Torino and Monza, and this has always happened after a bad first half, followed by a second half in which the Crusaders were able to show their quality. Continuity throughout the match has been one of Parma’s biggest problems this season: many times the Crusaders, having taken the lead, have let themselves be replaced too easily, but it is also true that several times, especially in the last period, the Gialloblù have shown that they have been able to react should they go under in the score. But Parma has rarely maintained a consistent quality of performance over the 90 minutes.

Chivu’s words, however, show how his boys do not lack mentality, and even when they go under, they have the strength to react and bring home points. Relative to mentality, however, it is equally true is that in the last period the Gialloblù found it more difficult to start the match on the right foot. Too often, as also said by Chivu, there has been a lack of concreteness in the plays, the desire to always be decisive, even at the expense of beauty. To reach the goal of salvation, it will be fundamental to restart from the reaction had by the Crociati players, who despite the disadvantage did not give up and still brought home a point. Moreover, as ParmaToday reports, in the top 5 European leagues only 4 teams have found more goals than Parma in the last quarter of an hour of play (Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Lazio and Bournemouth). Bonny’s one with Monza is in fact the 14th goal scored by Parma starting in the 75′ minute.

Chivu’s goal, as he himself stated, will be to work even harder under the players’ mental profile, taking advantage of the national break to recover physical and psychological energy, trying to regain the players’ full confidence in their abilities. So much of salvation will come from this and from the Romanian coach’s ability to preserve the good things done so far, such as the ability of the Crusaders to find the goal (together with Como, they are the team that scores the most among those in the race for salvation) and improve the shortcomings shown, such as the defensive phase (second worst defense in the league). In this sense Chivu seems to have already made his mark, allowing more balance to be found, and therefore the break will be important to further improve in this aspect.
