Ganz: “I coached Maldini when I was 6 years old. Atalanta, here’s the secret to the Scudetto…”

Maurizio Ganz, a former double interviewed by Corriere della Sera Bergamo, reveals an anecdote about striker Daniel Maldini: “In addition to having played with his father in the AC Milan days, I coached in Milan his own son Daniel when he was 6 years old at Masseroni Marchese, a club affiliated with AC Milan, since then I knew he would do well, he is a serious boy, he knows where he wants to go and has the right physical and technical characteristics, with Gasperini then who knows how to give great prominence to young people he will surely blossom.”

During the interview he also explains what were the secrets to winning the Scudetto with Milan in 1999 with an extraordinary comeback: “What memories, we had a gap of 7 points from Eriksson’s very strong Lazio with 7 days to go, the secret was the group, that’s the most important thing and that I see again today in Atalanta, it doesn’t matter so much to be the strongest but to be the strongest in the head, we were convinced that we could win them all and against everyone, the determination and the sense of belonging that I see even today in the locker room in Bergamo made the difference.”
