Florian Thauvin’s star has returned to shine

Florian Thauvin is back to shine. After being decisive against Parma with a winning penalty, the French striker repeated himself against Lazio, unlocking the challenge with a crucial goal and delivering another top performance and earning the title of MVP of the match for the second consecutive game. At 32, the former Marseille man seems to have regained the form of his best days, when he regularly exceeded double figures in Ligue 1.

L’avventura in Messico e la rinascita a Udine

After his successes with Olympique Marseille, Thauvin had a less successful spell with Tigres in Mexico, where he signed a five-year, €5 million-a-season contract in 2021. However, the experience away from Europe did not satisfy his ambitions, prompting him to break that deal and start again with Udinese. He signed a contract with the Friulani until 2025, with an option for one more season.

L’Udinese punta sul rinnovo, il Como osserva

The Pozzo Family has already expressed its intention to exercise the option to extend the contract until 2026, but the club is also working with his new agent Meïssa N’diaye for a longer deal. At the same time, Como is following the situation with interest: as early as January, the Como club had already sounded out the terrain and could return to the charge in the summer. Udinese, however, has never considered giving up its captain.

Numeri da top player e suggestione Nazionale

Thauvin’s numbers speak for themselves: 9 goals and 5 assists this season, after 6 goals and 5 assists last year. In his career, he has collected 86 goals and 61 assists in 281 appearances with OM and has also lifted the World Cup with France, with whom he counts 10 appearances and one goal.

Last January there was even talk of his possible return to the national team, a sign of how much of a star player he is back. Despite his almost 33 years of age, his talent and experience make him a perfect profile for Cesc Fàbregas’ technical project at Como.
