Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic gave an interview to YouTube channel ‘Foot Truck’ in which he shared his views on team management and the importance of communication within the club. Among the topics discussed was the arrival of Jesper Karlstrom, a player the coach strongly wanted.
“I was sure he was the right person for the number 6 role,” Runjaic said, explaining how the choice of Karlstrom was dictated by personality, international experience, and tactical skills. The midfielder, who arrived from Lech Poznań, played a key role at the Polish club, making his acquisition particularly complex. However, his adaptation to Udinese was quick, and today he is considered a key pawn in the team.
In addition to market choices, Runjaic stressed the importance of direct communication and clarity in the messages conveyed to the players. According to the coach, building strong relationships in the locker room is essential: “We have a clear model of play and we need to make the players understand what we expect from them and what we need.”
But his approach is not limited to the team: Runjaic believes that every person within the club plays a vital role, from the groundskeeper to the receptionist. “Everyone works for the players, but without a strong support staff, a club cannot function,” he said, highlighting the importance of respect and cooperation among all members of the club.
The interview offered further confirmation of Runjaic’s management philosophy, which is based on clear tactical ideas, human management and enhancement of the entire working environment, elements that are contributing to Udinese’s growth this season.
