Tremendous news for Milan, 100 million goes up in smoke: what happened, bad news for the Rossoneri club ahead of the market
From bad to worse. Milan’s crisis does not seem to stop any longer. After the resounding elimination from the Champions League against lowly Feyenoord, and a series of very bad results in the league, for the Rossoneri hopes of a turnaround this season are getting really slim. And in addition to the damage, for the Rossoneri could come at the end of this inauspicious championship the most tremendous of mockeries. Indeed, 100 million would now seem to have gone definitively up in smoke.

With qualification for the next Champions League increasingly difficult to achieve, and entry into Europe that, if it does not come from the league, could only come from winning the Coppa Italia, the scenarios this season for Milan are becoming truly ominous.
In fact, if the results do not come, much also depends on the mediocre performances of some of the players who had so far dragged the Rossoneri to great heights, from winning the championship in 2022 to the great seasons that followed, complete with a Champions semifinal in 2023.
Paradoxically, those same Rossoneri bigs that Milan has held on to with all its might for years are now having a very bad season when the club would be willing to sell them. And this will, inevitably, also affect the market’s valuation of their signings.
100 milioni in fumo per il Milan: svalutazione incredibile, cosa sta succedendo
Day after day, match after match, Milan’s squad is depreciating. And it is doing so not only because of the defeats that are now piling up numerous, but also because of the sometimes embarrassing performances of what until recently were referred to as some of the best players in Serie A.
Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan and Rafael Leao, three pillars of AC Milan in recent years, are in fact having a season with few highs and too many lows, and this could inevitably affect the cost of their signatures, as revealed by an analysis made by Il Corriere della Sera.
Brutto colpo per il Milan: svalutazione incredibile (Ansa) – Milanlive.it
Valued at around 70 million euros by the club in past years, Theo Hernandez could perhaps have left a few summers ago even for a sum close to 100 million. Today, with a contract expiring in 2026, it is possible that Milan may have to settle for 20-25 million in the next market.
Similar discourse for Maignan. The many bloopers put together this season, and a contract that has not yet been renewed, have in fact weighed enormously on his current valuation, which has gone from about 70 million to no more than 35-40.
On the other hand, a separate discourse must be made for Rafa Leao, who is not having a great season, but numerically he is still maintaining a high level between goals and assists. To think that someone today could arrive with the 175 million of his clause is frankly unrealistic. More likely, however, is that AC Milan could receive offers of around 60 million for his price tag during next summer. Not a few, but far less than he could have cashed in if he had sold him even just a year ago.
