Collovati: “Sartori is making Bologna’s fortunes.”

Former AC Milan and Inter defender Fulvio Collovati made some statements in which he talked about Bologna today. The 1982 world champion, by the way, dwelt on Giovanni Sartori, who is making the fortunes of the Rossoblù.

SERIES A OF THE IMPERFECT. “The standings say this, Napoli is still there with 4 points in the last 5 games, Atalanta could have been first at +5 if they had beaten Torino, Cagliari and Venezia at home, Inter is struggling physically, struggling to sustain three competitions and will have many commitments. Perhaps the one who is still better off is Napoli. And that no one cites Juve for the Scudetto, it is the illusion of some fans: it struggled even to beat Verona, it is still a reality under construction.”

BOLOGNA. “Last year with fifth place and Champions seemed like a triumph, instead they are still there. It means that the product does not change, regardless of the coach: apart from the fact that Italiano is good, but the trend testifies to the strength of the club. And then there is one of my two “brothers”: Giovanni Sartori. He was six years rooming with me at Milanello, from age 12 to 18: one brother is him, the other is Giovanni Lorini. Everywhere he went he made the fortunes of clubs: Chievo he built, Atalanta which is now winning also, now he is making the fortunes of Bologna.”

SARTORI. “We were first children and then boys in the bunk beds at Milanello, other times. That he had a hard head was already clear, though. Giovanni is good at his job because unlike many he goes to see the players on the spot, he doesn’t get them suggested by agents-when do the prosecutors ever bring you the good ones? In a soccer where so many buy players without having seen them, he goes to view them and get to know them on a human level as well.”

CURRENT BOLOGNA. “It’s a fun team that runs and doesn’t make scenes. Two teams in A have that pace there: Bologna and Lazio, who dominated in the first half against Milan. Others do 70% ball possession: who cares, better to make 3-4 passes and go for goal. In Bergamo, Bologna did a feat in the Coppa Italia, sometimes against closed teams they struggle, and in Verona they will have to be good: there is no shortage of quality, from Ferguson to Castro, who I think is the future Lautaro.”
