From Milanello, during this week of work without matches, good news arrives: a double return is one step away

Milan, for the first time in a very long time, has what the coaches call a clean week. There will be no midweek commitments, unfortunately: the elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Feyenoord, on the pitch today at 6:45 p.m. to face Inter Milan in Rotterdam, grants the Rossoneri a chance to reduce their commitments between now and the end of the season. Certainly not a good thing for the team and also for the fans, who at the beginning of March may already consider Milan’s year to be over.
All the Rossoneri have left is the Coppa Italia, with the semifinal against Inter to be played in April (first leg and return). Sergio Conceicao for the first time therefore can work with greater intensity and quality in training, something that until now, as mentioned, he has not been able to do. That’s why, from the next matches at least, an improvement in play – and, hopefully, in results as well – is expected. Meanwhile, at Milanello, the rehabilitation work of the injured continues and, in the last few hours, important news has arrived regarding a possible double comeback.
Forze fresche per Conceicao, doppio rientro in vista
All season long, AC Milan has had to do without Alessandro Florenzi. He was injured in early August during the match against Manchester City on the US tour. A serious knee problem, yet another in his career, forced him to miss the entire league. Now, according to Gianluca Di Marzio reports, he would be ready to rejoin the group, perhaps as early as this week.

Conceicao may decide to call him up for Saturday’s game against Lecce at the Via del Mare so he can get a taste of the locker room and the bench again. Florenzi’s absence has been heavy not so much because of dynamics on the field but because of his contribution at the locker room and mentality level. If he does not return Saturday for Lecce, a call-up for the next game is likely; it all depends on when he returns to the field. His contract is expiring in June and he is unlikely to renew, so it will be his last months in the Rossoneri.
The other injured player is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has been out since last December 11 since the game against Red Star. The Englishman returned available for the Super Cup only to have a relapse: he has been practically out of action for more than three months and there is no news about it. Apparently, however, his rehabilitation course is coming to an end: he could return to work in the group from next week and thus make himself available to the team for the upcoming matches. For him, too, it could be his last months in the Rossoneri.
