There are market rumors that last the time of a coffee, and then there are those that stay there, ringing in the ears like a catchphrase. Victor Osimhen to Juventus falls into the second category. It’s an idea that initially seemed like pure science fiction, but is now starting to take shape, thanks to a heavy indiscretion launched by a former bomber of the 1980s.

Roberto Pruzzo, speaking at the microphones of Radio Radio, stated bluntly, “I know that Juve’s next striker will be Osimhen. I was told this in Florence by a reliable source close to his entourage, and they are sure to go to Turin next year.”

Words that do not go unnoticed, especially since they come from someone who knows a thing or two about strikers. But besides the allure of the suggestion, there is a gigantic problem: the cost of the operation. We have already addressed the topic of the enormous difficulties of the Osimhen-Juve operation, but it seems appropriate to return to it.

Those who follow the market know that Juventus needs a great center forward, and Osimhen is one of the best profiles on the market. However, there is a huge obstacle on the road to Turin: the rescission clause in the Nigerian’s contract. A detail that completely changes the scenario, because this clause is only valid for foreign clubs.

In other words, if Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United decided to sink their teeth in, it would be enough to pay 75 million euros and take the bomber home without dealing with anyone.

Juventus, on the other hand, would have to sit down at the table with Aurelio De Laurentiis, and we all know that he is not a president inclined to do favors, least of all to his historical rival. The negotiation, therefore, would be long, complicated and, above all, very expensive.

La differenza fra il caso Osimhen e il caso Higuain alla Juventus

Many fans have already compared this situation to the Higuaín coup of 2016, but the comparison does not hold up. Back then, Juventus could simply pay the 90 million clause and take Pipita away without having to convince Napoli.

With Osimhen, however, this shortcut does not exist: you have to negotiate, and it is hard to imagine a De Laurentiis willing to give up his most prized piece to a direct competitor. On the footballer, on the other hand, we have very few doubts: he would have no qualms whatsoever, and we can already give this as a certainty.

There is also the fan factor to consider: the Neapolitan square never digested Higuaín’s transfer, but at least at the time there was a clear clause. Selling Osimhen to Juve would be a very difficult move to explain to the Azzurri supporters, who would see their bomber wearing the most detested jersey.

If Juventus really wants to bring Osimhen to Turin, it must make a bid so high that the transfer is inevitable because it is too cheap. In the end, with equal or almost equal offers, Napoli will certainly prefer to give him abroad, and next summer there will certainly be no shortage of suitors for the Nigerian.

Pruzzo’s statements have fueled the dream, but as of today Osimhen at Juventus is a very difficult proposition. The numbers do not add up, and market conditions seem to push the Nigerian away from Serie A. But you know: in soccer, certainties never exist completely.
