Vanoli: “I thank the fans, it felt like playing at home.”

Le parole di Paolo Vanoli dopo la vittoria del Torino sul Monza all’U-Power: per i granata è il secondo successo consecutivo

“The jersey of my first goal? I’ve scored so few … but they were decisive,” so immediately to Dazn Vanoli comments on the victory and makes a reference to Casadei’s first goal in Serie A. “Now we can talk about a simple match but it wasn’t, I wanted a step of mentality, I knew that in these fields it can be important for a team like Monza but we approached it well, we have to improve the management and be faster in the turn of the ball, fast play helps to find spaces.”

A test of maturity? “I push a lot with the boys, those who want to do something important must get there with their heads before their legs. I pushed the button on the approach, we don’t have to look at the standings but grow, improve, this team can have the qualities to be there all the way. These are three points that allow us to look at everything with serenity.”

Vanoli: “Ecco perché mi sono arrabbiato nel primo tempo”

“At the end of the first half I was angry because when you meet a team that plays five you have two options, speed of execution with the outsides and the ability to jump the man or as in the first goal the restart. In fact I was getting angry because after winning the ball we were slowing down and going back.”

La conferenza stampa di Vanoli

“I had said that in the market we were good at getting players who could improve the roster. They came with spirit and brought mentality. Elmas is an important player, he won a scudetto, Biraghi made cup finals, Casadei gained experience in England.”

You always preach calmness but after these wins in a row and having Parma and Empoli, can it be a shot forward? “We have to look for it without looking at the standings this shot. We promised the fans that we will fight until the end. I thank them, today it felt like playing at home. I came here to unite, the fans are important and if we can do that we can do something important.”

Casadei’s growth was striking: what work was done with him? “I think his growth came because a young man went to a major league. That was the first step. Casadei had the desire to come to Turin and it shows on the field, he was able to seize the opportunity, when you see guys coming in like that it’s all easier, now he just has to improve, I’ve always said that new guys help others to give more. There is a lot of competition and now it is easier for the coach.”

Where does Casadei still need to improve? “He has a lot of margins, in possession management he delays seeing the play or makes a few too many touches, he needs to use his physique better in contrasts, the physique needs to be used well. Then he has this gift of insertion times, I like players like that, it’s in his DNA and he has shown it before. Even if we play 2, I always left him the freedom to attack the area.”

Elmas’ quality makes sure those balls can go in the goal and not shot into the stands… “Mentality matters and playing for the team also matters, then welcome quality. Vlasic is also having continuity, that’s what I look for. In fact, I demand more in a positive sense, he can grow more. When he comes on he turns the team around.”
