Udinese and defensive tightness growing: fourth “clean sheet” for Razvan Sava in Lecce

Udinese, which emerged victorious from the Via del Mare, beating Lecce 1-0, continued to show clear progress of a newfound defensive solidity. Coming out of the match with the Salentine Giallorossi undefeated, Romanian goalkeeper Razvan Sava was able to celebrate his fourth clean sheet of the season. Awaiting the return from Maduka Okoye’s wrist injury, the young extreme defender is gradually gaining more and more confidence showing clear signs of improvement over the 12 appearances so far in the bianconero.

Since his debut in Monza-Udinese 1-2 on Dec. 9, 2024, Sava has kept his goal unbeaten on four occasions, contributing to the growth of the Friulian defense. For comparison, in the first 14 days of the championship, starter Okoye had collected three clean sheets, against Como, Lecce and Cagliari.

La svolta difensiva con Solet titolare

True defensive stability, however, came with the entry of Oumar Solet into the starting eleven. Since the French defender was deployed from the first minute against Hellas Verona, the Bianconeri rearguard has regained compactness, allowing Sava to concede no goals in four games: against Verona, Atalanta, Empoli and Lecce.

Due vittorie consecutive, un traguardo che mancava da settembre

In addition to the solid defensive phase, the Friulian team can celebrate another important achievement: for the second time this season, it has achieved two consecutive wins. The last time it had happened at the beginning of the championship, when Udinese had beaten Lazio, Como and Parma between August 24 and September 16, while stringing together three wins in a row.

With an increasingly reliable defense and a growing team, Udinese aims to maintain this positive trend while consolidating its position in the league.
