It’s a whole different Vlasic: from a trequartista more and more a dragger

Nella sfida contro il Milan si è visto ancora una volta un ottimo Vlasic: ora che è tornato trequartista è migliorato il suo rendimento

Little more than three days have passed, but obviously the images of the victory against AC Milan still remain well etched in the minds of Torino fans. A real granata jubilation, perhaps the most exciting victory of the season also for the heart put on the field by the players. Some more and some less everyone played a great challenge, and if among the many always mentioned are Milinkovic, Maripan, Coco or Ricci perhaps Vlasic’s performance went a little too quietly. Since returning to his main role, the Croatian has begun to play like a true number 10 again.

Che Vlasic!

So much, so much waiting: but now it is all worth it. Everyone remembers how Nikola Vlasic’s first part of the season went. Preparation skipped due to injury, return to the field slipping from week to week and, once he was back available, disappointments one after another. But then something changed, not only did the spark in him go off but he was also helped by Vanoli, who abandoned his own 3-5-2 to revert to a 4-2-3-1 capable of perfectly marrying the Croatian’s characteristics. From that moment, precisely the challenge against Parma, the number 10’s season totally changed direction.

I numeri a confronto

First of all, the former West Ham man showed himself to be much more in the center of the game, and often the decisive balls passed from his feet; just what is due to a number 10. After that, it has also benefited his quality, given the chance to express himself at his best and also closer to the goal. And finally, the numbers have definitely improved as well. Not so much those related to goals and assists, because the class of ’97 scored only two goals, but the more “complex” ones. Indeed, the touches per game have increased (from an average of about 25 to almost 40), showing that the change of system has put him at the center of the game, but also the expected goals and expected assists, thus the decisive passes provided to teammates. It is therefore a whole different Vlasic, and Vanoli has found the cure: all he had to do was make him comfortable and in his own position.
