AS ROMA NEWS – An investiture. Claudio Ranieri in his post-Roma-Monza press conference had some important words for Cesc Fabregas, Como’s coach and the Giallorossi’s next opponent in the league: “In three or four years he will be one of the world’s top players.” However, the Spaniard is armored by a contract until 2028 with the Lombard club and it will not be easy to take him away from a club that has ambitious plans for the future.
The other track that has been gaining momentum in recent days is the one leading to Gian Piero Gasperini, a coach who will most likely say goodbye to Atalanta at the end of the season after nearly a decade of exciting results, culminating in last season’s historic Europa League victory. Roma has already taken the first steps with Gasp to understand his intentions: Ranieri sees him as a great coach, ideal to start a certain kind of project the Friedkins have in mind, given also the difficulties in the market due to the FPF.
Gasperini, although a very well-prepared coach whose results of his work in Bergamo are there for all to see, is a rather divisive technician because of his edgy character: his arrival at Roma would not bring everyone together. Max Allegri certainly would, but he does not seem to be at the center of the capital club’s thoughts at the moment. What about Ranieri? For now, the coach has closed to the possibility of a stay on the Giallorossi bench. “I’m not changing my mind,” he cut it short after the fine victory over Monza. But between now and June it is not certain that things can change.
