Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove in Sanremo talks about his pain and post-sickness experience
The young player of the purple team was invited to the Ariston by Carlo Conti to testify and tell his story after his sudden illness on Dec. 1, 2024.
Edoardo Bove, in fact, suffered a cardiac arrest in Fiorentina-Inter after just a quarter of an hour of play. The player was promptly rescued, without which he would not have survived. Immediately after the first intervention of the medical staff, nurses and doctors present at the Franchi, he was rushed to the hospital and was hospitalized for a few days in intensive care.
Once he understood the problem, Bove underwent surgery to have a subcutaneous defibrillator inserted, which is why he cannot play competitively in Italy. In fact, as also happened to Eriksen, no professional player in Italy can play if he has such cardiac devices.
Bove: “Soffro, non mi sento solo. Mi sento incompleto”
During his speech on the stage of the Italian Song Festival, the Fiorentina midfielder admitted to feeling a lack: the game played.

Bove stated that he felt incomplete:
“I don’t feel like myself anymore. I miss something, like someone who loses a great love or suffers a great loss. I feel empty, I feel incomplete. I’m getting help, I’m going through a path that makes me feel bad today, but it will serve for the future.”
He is not talking openly about retiring from playing soccer, but surely Edward must be facing this hypothesis. Indeed, before hanging up his boots, Sports Minister Abodi would like to see if there is a solution for all cases similar to Bove.
Then the Under-21 midfielder stated:
“I suffer, I don’t feel alone. And I think a lot about those who suffer like me and cannot afford a path or someone to help them. There are so many obstacles, I imagine their difficulties.”
At the moment Edoardo Bove cannot take the field to defend the purple colors. The hope is that he will be able to return to play in Italy, but the real risk is that last December’s illness has permanently removed him from the playing field.
