After 94 games with the Udinese jersey last summer Marco Silvestri decided to leave the bianconeri and move to Sampdoria since he was now closed in Friuli by the explosion of Maduka Okoye. The experienced goalkeeper in the Blucerchiato did not get the space he hoped for with the Genoa team that has already changed as many as six extreme defenders since the league began. Silvestri then took advantage of the January soccer market window to settle back in Serie A to wear the shirt of Empoli, coincidentally Udinese’s very next opponent. Yesterday was staged his official presentation by the club of President Corsi. These are some of the statements of the former Udinese player and next opponent.
THE ARRIVAL AT EMPOLI – “The negotiation was quite unexpected also because, from what I know, Empoli was directed to another player. Then as a surprise I was offered Empoli and I was immediately very happy. It was all very quick,” the player explained.”
IMMENSE OCCASION – “I came without any kind of pretense, absolutely. Because for me it’s a huge opportunity because of the way things went in 2024. This 2025 with Empoli started much better. I repeat for me it is an immense opportunity and I arrived with great enthusiasm….”
FORMER RACE AT UDINE – “We have to grit our teeth. Even starting in Udine, which will be a very special match for me. In Udinese I had three important seasons. I left angry, perhaps making a mistake. But I am happy to return there to find many people I am fond of.”
