Former Udinese coach Luigi Del Neri spoke on the pages of the colleagues of Il Messaggero Veneto for an interesting interview between the draw in Naples and the upcoming challenge with Empoli. Here is an excerpt of his analysis of the Friulani’s moment:
THE 4-4-2 AS THE MODULE OF THE LAST TWO CHALLENGES – “I saw the most balanced and confident Udinese of the season with the 4-4-2, and having midfielders who can act as outsiders Runjaic can continue on this path. “Runjaic came up with a pure 4-4-2 in the non-possession phase with Thauvin and Lucca well set up, but the key was the mobility and pace of the outfielders entering the middle of the field and also ending up on the opposite flank to the starting one. In this way Udinese had more density and solutions in the center of the field while remaining well covered at the back.”
THE “SECRET” OF THE RIGHT BAND – “On the right, Kristensen is not a push fullback and does not go up high, but Thauvin compensated for the lack of push from the low outside by coming to get the ball on the right center, free to range at will.”
SANCHEZ ON THE WING A LA THAUVIN? BETTER IKER – “They are similar players, but different despite having one characteristic in common, which is to jump the man by going to play in support of the first forward. Thauvin’s is a role that Bravo can also do, and I liked the fact that with the entry of the Spaniard Runjaic he confirmed the initial idea by keeping true to the module.”
