Future Milan chose to exonerate Daniele Bonera after the defeat against Lucchese: who replaces him? The names

Barring any resounding twists and turns, currently unforeseen, Daniele Bonera’s experience as Milan Futuro coach has come to an end. Somewhat surprisingly, the club had chosen him (until then a collaborator of Stefano Pioli and Marco Giampaolo before that) to lead the U23 team set up in June. Surprise yes, because the more natural choice would have been Ignazio Abate, considering that the group is mostly made up of his Primavera, that is, the team that, last season, had reached the Youth League final.

He had done a great job for results and youth growth but in the end, no one knows why, the club took other paths. Abate ended up at Ternana (where he is doing very well) and Bonera started his coaching career. Future Milan, however, has been a disaster so far and the defeat against Lucchese, a contender for salvation, seems to have been the straw that will break the camel’s back. For the exoneration seems only a matter of time, but who will be able to take his place?

Il possibile sostituto di Bonera

Milan has been a protagonist in January in the market for the first team but also for Milan Futuro with several important signings: experienced elements (Magrassi and Camporese) and also interesting youngsters. Last weekend’s victory against Spal raised hopes for a turnaround, but yesterday’s loss to Lucchese highlighted the team’s usual problems.

It is not only a question of results but also of the quality of the game and the growth of the boys, which are actually the most important thing; relegation to Serie D, however, provided for in the regulations, would not be a good calling card in the team’s first year. That is why the club wants to take action now. As Matteo Moretto writes, the club and the team has lost confidence in Bonera, and that is why a change was chosen.

Before proceeding with the exoneration, however, the idea is to agree with the replacement: there has been talk of promoting Federico Guidi, who, however, is doing very well with the Primavera team and it would be preferable to leave him there (and perhaps reconsider next year) and also of Alberto Bollini, current coach of the Italian U19. Difficult that Vincenzo Vivarini, free and with higher prospects, could be a concrete option. These are the names circulating at the moment but the club could also make other choices. All we can do is wait.
