Today marks the sixty-seventh anniversary of the tie between Atalanta and Marzotto Valdagno, a formation now in the Veneto amateurs (First Category) and named only after the town that hosts the white and blue club’s home games (Valdagno, precisely).
On that day, Atalanta stumbled into a white-net draw that, certainly, in its own small way remained in the history of this Vicenza club, which even in those years was a regular in the B championship. The result, on balance, will bring no regrets of any kind in the weeks to come and, above all, at the end of the cadet tournament, which will see the Dea in first place and promoted to the next level. Most representative players on that team turned out to be Sweden’s Bent Gustavsson and Zavaglio. In the first team, meanwhile, a young boy had appeared who, in the years to come, would reap great satisfaction, goalkeeper Pierluigi Pizzaballa, a native of Bergamo.
