On the eve of Toro-Genoa, Vanoli wanted to clarify the arrival of Salama, a striker who has just arrived from Stade Reims. During the press conference, the Granata coach stressed an important aspect to avoid misunderstandings: “I want to make it clear that Salama was not taken to replace Zapata.” With this statement, Vanoli wanted to nip in the bud the perplexities that saw the player as the replacement for the injured Duvan. The coach explained that his choice to sign Salama was dictated by the need to reinforce the attack, but with a different vision: “After Njie’s injury, we took a player who can play the outside and in case of need the forward.”

Vanoli went on to clarify the role Salama will play in the team. The coach highlighted his versatility: “Salama is not a pure central striker like Zapata, but he can also play the outside role. He came to play in the three-quarter and to give different options, especially after Njie’s absence.” In essence, not only will the young striker have the task of supporting the offensive line, but he will also be an additional element on the outside of the attack, adapting to the needs of the game.

Finally, Vanoli talked about Salama’s physical condition and his motivation: “He came in motivated, he has minutes in his legs and I will bring him to the bench.” With these words, the coach confirmed that the new addition is already ready to take the court, although he will initially start from the bench. His motivation was a positive aspect for Vanoli, who also received excellent references from the sporting director, despite the fact that initially he did not know the player personally. “I did not know him, but the director spoke well of him to me,” Vanoli concluded, giving confidence to the new arrival.
