On the eve of the crucial match with Cagliari, new CEO Federico Cherubini spoke at the presentation press conference and dealt precisely with the issue of the fight for salvation, in which Parma is placed, in a standings situation that needs immediate improvement, starting precisely from the challenge with the red and blue. In this context, however, Cherubini reiterated how the corporate policy focused on youth should not be an alibi: “There is a situation to deal with that concerns maintaining the category: the efforts of the sports area are all directed there. But this should not interrupt the long-term vision. To think that the youngest team in the league must necessarily go bad, also no. It doesn’t. In 90 percent of the cases the youngest team in the league achieves the goals. If we don’t achieve the goal at the end of the league, it means we were not able to achieve it, certainly not because we are the youngest.”
Cherubini wanted to analyze the situation from a more technical point of view and on the approach to competitions, which needs to be different from what we have seen so far on most occasions: “There are some things we need to be able to do better. We need to interpret the competitions by showing desire and spirit that we can maintain the category. It is crucial to maintain the category. I expect something important in terms of attitude, Cagliari is very important in this sense. They are in the phase of getting to know all the realities both internally and externally.” Returning to talk about the company’s policy, the new CEO expressed the need to have not only youngsters on the roster, but also experienced points of reference to help the boys improve: “Youngsters? Not only that, we need balance here as well. A right mix of young people and reference points for these young people. Definitely with young people there is more work to be done, but I am confident and want to imagine in the future also teams that have a lot of young people. Regarding foreigners: it is more difficult to buy in Italy, for aspects also related to the transfer mechanism, there is more competition in the domestic market.”
