OFFICIAL – Calabria is a new Bologna player: the statement

Davide Calabria is officially a new Bologna player. The former AC Milan fullback lands at the Rossoblù on loan until June 2025. Below is the statement from the Felsinei.

THE COMMENT. “Bologna FC 1909 announces that it has acquired the right to the sports performance of defender Davide Calabria from AC Milan on a temporary basis until June 30, 2025.

A class ’96 right-back of order and drive, at his first experience away from Milan after 11 seasons in the first team, Davide has characteristics of extreme dynamism, speed especially on the long run, tactical sense and stamina. Launched by Inzaghi and Mihajlovic more than 10 years ago after successes at the youth level, since the age of 21 he has made a progressive maturation that has led him to get between 30 and 40 appearances each season, proving to be among the most consistent and reliable interpreters of his role in the national arena: in the two-year period 2020-2022 he attended Coverciano called by coach Maldini (7 games with the senior Italy after 19 in U21), while at AC Milan he made his debut in the Europa League and Champions League, became captain of the team, and was given full confidence by Stefano Pioli after the years with Brocchi, Montella, Gattuso, and Giampaolo in which he was often preferred to his ward colleagues Abate and Conti.

The 2020-21 year is the one of Calabria’s exploit, with a crescendo of performances – ability to destroy the opponent’s game, diligent execution of preventive markings, confidence in settings, quality in long throw – that make him a mainstay of Milan, which returns to the Champions League after a long time and in the following season wins the Scudetto (a year of 26 games and 2 goals for Davide). Closed the five-year period of Pioli, with Fonseca and Conceicao in the current 2024-25 he took the field 7 times in the league, one in the Coppa Italia with a goal at Sassuolo, 5 in the Champions League and one in the Super Cup in the final won.”
