LATEST NEWS FROM AS ROMA – Ranieri has decided: he is keeping Shomurodov, Soulè and Paredes. And maybe even Celik. Just hours before the gong that will mark the end of the winter market, the coach/manager cannot be satisfied with what Roma has made available to him after the disposals of Le Fee, Hermoso and Zalewski.
For the moment, in fact, Ranieri had only Devyne Rensch as reinforcement for a squad that remains deficient in several departments. On the left, Angelino remains the only left-back available (Dahl, by the way, is pushing to leave: Benfica and Besiktas want him), in midfield Le Fee’s farewell has not been compensated by any reinforcement, while in attack the coach was hoping for a purchase that would allow him to rest Dovbyk.
Ranieri had mentioned two names for that role: the first was Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca, but he would also have settled for Lyon’s Mikautadze. Bargains, however, too exorbitant for the capital club’s coffers: for the Georgian the French were asking 30 million, the Friulians would have been content with a few million less for Lucca, but the valuation still frightens Roma. Which therefore postpones to the summer any talk of a new striker.
Leandro Paredes, who had hoped for a return to his homeland as early as this market session, remains in Trigoria: the fits with Boca did not happen and everything was postponed until June. Ranieri, who feared losing a pillar of his ideal formation, smiles. Same fate for Soulè, who ended up in the sights of several clubs, both Italian and foreign: Ranieri is counting on it and has not opened to a transfer. It remains to be seen whether he will do the same with Celik: Fulham is ready to take him on loan with a buy-back obligation. This time, too, the last word will be up to the coach.
