He fights, sets up, scores big goals: in winter he is a new Krstovic

What Nikola Krstovic played in Parma was probably his best game in a Lecce jersey. Not that he did not have great performances especially during his great impact with Serie A. This time, however, it is different, this time his performances are more complete, more continuous, without the need for surprise effects or stubborn conclusions.

Two clarifications on two big mistakes made, to date of course, about the Montenegrin. A player who was never a “pippa,” not even when he failed those 3-4 balls just to be pushed into the goal. And who has never been the new Van Nisterlooy, not even when he seemed to be able to turn every ball he touched into gold.

Maybe because he shrugged off some excessive responsibility, maybe because of the skill of coach Marco Giampaolo, but the one of the last two months looks like a different Krstovic, more serene, more judicious, more generous, and more charged. More of a “player,” to use a term that is actually very non-technical.

Easy to say after Parma, a contest that saw him master on every level. The physical one, on which he annihilated two who are not exactly puny like Vogliacco and Valenti. The technical one, because the touches with impeccable timing for Pierotti and especially the winning header are high school plays. And that of mentality, so dragging that coach Giampaolo did not think for a moment of depriving the team of it to insert fresh energy. This is the Krstovic Lecce needs, with no need to overdo it. Simply to be himself.
