Serie A, Saturday’s 23rd league matchday previews: Atalanta stops, Monza further and further down
Serie A, gli anticipi della 23ma giornata: pari e dramma per l’Atalanta – SerieAnews
The 23rd day of Serie A opened yesterday with the first advance. But Saturday was definitely rich with as many as four matches: the last three in the class were on the field but also and especially Atalanta. Let’s see how the challenges went.
Monza-Verona 0-1
Late night for the Brianzoli, who are increasingly last in the standings and at serious risk of relegation. Bocchetti has to deal with the increasingly massive emergency and relies on Palacios who has just arrived from Inter. Verona starts definitely better and at 13′ goes through: cross by Serdar from the right and Lekovic deflects in his goal in the intent to anticipate Mosquera lurking behind him.
In the second half Verona came close to doubling the score with Niasse but his conclusion ended up very high. The changes do not help Monza either, which only in the final came close to equalizing with Mota Carvalho’s header.
Udinese-Venezia 3-2
A pyrotechnic match in Udine, with the Friulians taking three points after more than two months at home. Coriaceous and combative the Laguna team, with Di Francesco making up for the emergency as he can, without the team’s princely center forward, Pohjanpalo in the stands waiting to move to Palermo.

After a soporific first half despite the three forwards on the field among the Bianconeri, marked by the injury to Stankovic, it is the second half that is spectacular. Barely 56 seconds into the game and Lucca puts his side ahead: Kamara’s cross, Joronen uncertain on the occasion and the center forward’s winning shot.
At 52′ the double: Thauvin’s cross, Joronen clears to Lovric who scores on the volley. Venice, however, shortens with Nicolussi Caviglia’s free kick on which Sava is not flawless and equalizes in the 78′: bad exit by Sava on Candé and Gytkjaer’s support into the net for the 2-2 goal. The goal for the final 3-2 in the 84th minute: Solet enters the box and serves Iker Bravo who makes it 3-2.
Atalanta-Torino 1-1
The match between Atalanta and Torino ends 1-1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. Two points lost for the orobici, who could see the top of the standings recede further should Napoli and Inter win.

Tegola before starting the match for Gasperini who loses Carnesecchi to injury in the warm-up: in his place Rui Patricio. Dea starts better and goes in goal with Bellanova but the former’s goal after 20′ of play is cancelled due to an arm touch. The Nerazzurri, however, do not give up and unlock the match anyway with Djimsiti who on the development of a corner soars into the box and scores.
During the first half injury also for Kolasinac, who was forced to raise the white flag with a muscle problem and was replaced by Toloi. Toro does not give up and equalizes with Maripan: again a corner, perfect header on which the Lusitanian goalkeeper can do nothing.
At 74′ the big chance for Atalanta: penalty kick, from the penalty spot Retegui is hypnotized by Milinkovic-Savic, who saves as he did in the first leg, for the third penalty deflected out of three this season.
Bologna-Como 2-0
One goal per half and Bologna regulated Como and climbed in the standings to fifth place, hooking Juve. In the first half, De Silvestri unlocked the game at 25′: Lykogiannis’ cross and the Bologna right-back was the quickest to put his team ahead with a precise header. Dark night for Como at 38′: the Larians remain, in fact, in 10 men due to the red light to Fadera for protests. In the first half also double crossbar for Bologna, with Lucumì and Dallinga.
In the second half the goal of the final 2-0 at 66′: Dominguez serves Miranda, cross and Fabbian’s conclusion for the double. Fabregas also debuts Ikoné and one of his conclusions laps the post while Butez, in the other area, is miraculous on Beukema’s header. In the 80th minute a crossbar for Como with Moro’s deflection off Nico Paz’s cross.
