Il direttore sportivo crociato è intervenuto in conferenza stampa
At the end of the match that ended 1-3 in Lecce’s favor, it was not coach Fabio Pecchia but sporting director Mauro Pederzoli who appeared in the press room. Behind this choice, however, there is no imminent exoneration. In fact, Pederzoli reiterated his confidence in the coach: “It’s a bitter night, not an easy moment. It felt right as a club to be here to talk and explain. There is nothing else, we remove doubts, there is no exoneration in the air.” A defeat, today’s, that weighs heavily in the standings since it came in a direct clash: “It was a direct clash, the standings say it and it is clear. The teams interpreted it with their own characteristics. Lecce won, credit to them who did better than us. Parma, however, played a serious game trying until the end, the result does not give us reason, it must be accepted but we must have the strength to put it behind us.”
When there are three days left until the end of the market, the Crusader DS reiterated that the bulk has been done, but he is not closing in on new arrivals in the last few days: “Three days is a long time in the market, but we have already done quite a lot, we have picked up five players. We are struggling with injuries and disqualifications. We will be careful in these three days, but the bulk has been done. We also took players who are used to playing in this league. It takes adaptation for everyone, maybe for those who were already playing in Serie A a little less. The goal of the market is always to strengthen the team and go to improve certain positions, there are times like now where injuries and disqualifications don’t give you a hand. Today the roster was not complete.”
At the end of the game there was a heavy protest by the fans against the team, an anger that was understandable and shared by the whole environment: “The anger of the fans is our own. We have to give to them, not ask. The wish is that nothing is broken, behind the anger is the love for this club. I have learned to appreciate the fans’ affection for this team, I am sure they will be ready to support us from the next one.” However, there will not be a punitive retreat against the team: “We do not believe in these methods and we do not believe there is a need for this. There is serious and careful work to be done. We have a young group that works hard. In our opinion it needs to keep working, feel trust affection from the club. This is the road we want to go down.”
Finally, Pederzoli commented on the performance of the Crusaders, which led to the heavy defeat loss: “We started off contracted, then we went ahead and took the equalizer on a great opponent’s goal. A negative junction, at halftime ahead things would have changed. In the second half we started well, then we got a goal and that hit us hard, we struggled to react.”
