It takes a wonder by Battelani and a tap-in by Golob, to Matteo Pachera’s Bologna Women, to beat Res Women: the 16th round of the Women’s Serie B, the first day of return, ends 2-0 at the “Bonarelli” sports field. It is a victory that is needed, in the standings, to detach the pursuers from the 4th place, now at 34 points: Lumezzane, now, is six points away. Ahead, Genoa keeps on +5 (39), brakes Ternana (41), while Parma keeps the first place (43).
That it’s a tough match to solve can be seen as early as 49′: Sondergaard, in the box, turns and hits the crossbar. It is a Rossoblù team that impacts the match in a very good way, even if it always lacks the winning paw, as in the 14th minute, when Nocchi comes in front of Zaghini, who is good at deflecting the ball, which then ends at the side of the right post. Also complicating the Rossoblù plans were the substitutions of Sondergaard (injured in a clash) and Tucceri Cimini, whose places were taken by Colombo and Sciarrone. Shore, however, risked only on one occasion, but there was the crossbar to save her.
In the second half, the Capitoline girls closed all the spaces: Golob, Giovagnoli and Spinelli got up to build the action even on the half-court line, often bumping into the host wall. In the 71st minute, on a stray ball from 30 meters, Battelani unloads a right-footed shot that goes off at the cross: a beautiful goal, number eight of the season, to be seen and seen again that sends the red-blues into the lead and changes the script of the match. On the wings of enthusiasm, Bologna continued to attack and closed out the match in the 79th minute, when Sciarrone hit another crossbar from a free kick, but on the ball it was Golob who was the first to arrive and deposit the ball into the net.
Notes:
Veronica Battelani’s seventh goal on the season, her eighth of the season;
Lana Golob’s first goal in a redshirt, her 11th marker of the year.
Seventh clean sheet for Margot Shore, sixth on the season.
The next appointment is set for Sunday, Feb. 2, 2:30 p.m., at the home of San Marino Academy.
