LAZIO – January 27, 1901. Lazio plays its first game of experimental soccer against the Veloce Club. The Biancocelesti win 1-0 in front of spectators at the Velodrome in Rome. On Jan. 27, 2015, Lazio faces AC Milan at the San Siro Stadium in the quarterfinal match of the Coppa Italia. The team, then coached by Stefano Pioli, won 1-0 thanks to Lucas Biglia’s goal, scored at 38′ of the match on a penalty kick, earning the round to the semifinals. Having then also defeated Napoli, Lazio advanced to the final against Juventus, where they were defeated in extra time 2-1.

HISTORY – January 27, 1945. The Auschwitz concentration camp is liberated by Soviet troops. This date was chosen by the UN to mark the International Day of Remembrance, in memory of the victims of the Shoah. With Law No. 211 of July 20, 2000, the Italian Parliament also officially established Holocaust Remembrance Day, “in memory of the extermination and persecution of the Jewish people and of Italian military and political deportees to Nazi camps.”
