Milan wants Santiago Gimenez, again. After the attempt made in the last hours of the summer market, the Rossoneri are trying again now, even this time slightly late. It would have been better to advance the negotiation in the past months, so as to anticipate the competition and allow Feyenoord to work immediately on the arrival of a replacement. Now, however, the deal is getting complicated because the Dutch rightly do not want to let him go mid-season. So much so that Juventus’ proposal for Hancko was also rejected.

The Rossoneri’s trump card is Gimenez himself, who is pushing to go to Milan as he also tried to do last summer. But the decision is up to Feyenoord, which is shooting very high on the price at this point. The Rossoneri will make a bid of more than 30 million to try to convince them. Meanwhile, Daniel Reyes, a journalist from Claro Sports, exclusively briefed us on the situation and described the player’s characteristics.

Santiago Gimenez to Milan: do you think it will happen?

“It will be a complicated negotiation. Feyenoord wants 40 million and they know they need Santiago Gimenez to do well in the Champions League and Eredivisie. The player likes the idea of going to Milan so for now I think it’s 50/50.”

Which player is he?

“He is a classic 9. Strong up front and can outsmart defenders. He is left-handed and has a good shot on goal. He is not a dribbler, but he can handle the ball well. In Mexico the expectations on him are very high.”

Do you think he is ready to make the leap to a big name in Europe like Milan?

“I think he is ready, but it will take time. At least a couple of months to get used to Serie A.”

Among fans there is some skepticism because he comes from the Dutch league.

“I understand the fans’ concern. Milan is one of the biggest teams in Europe, and it is not easy to handle the pressure. The difference is a lot, especially with defenders in both leagues. It is always difficult to know if a player will be up to the task, but so far Santiago Gimenez has shown he can handle the pressure.”

Can he become a top in the role?

“If Milan is looking for a Giroud-style number nine, then he is the one. He has the potential to become a top player. He is still young and what he has shown is very good, and his mentality is the right one for someone who wants to be the best in the world.”
