Interviewed by Sky’s microphones in the post match of the Champions League match against Brugge, Juventus coach Thiago Motta spoke. Below are his answers to questions from the studio.
Has little been done to win?
“All the past teams here have had difficulties. They defend very well, leaving one more behind. We did not suffer, but we did not create enough to be able to win the game. A pity, because we could , always with respect to the opponent, do better. They left other teams struggling and then on the counterattack they went ahead. We suffered little, but we did not create enough.”
You took one risk:
“They came very little; we suffered very little. They played on our mistake the whole game. After so long we have so many players available; we started forward with Samu, Nico and Timothy. Then the others came in, which today, I also add Randal, who will be there in the league, I want to see more of. Our forwards are the ones who have to contribute more.”
Can you explain Locatelli’s role?
“It’s a way to stay balanced. Manu knows when it’s time to get down and when it’s time to go for the opponent. With these situations, defensively, to make an outlet to the attackers. From those six I want to see more; they have the quality. Samu has been near the area trying dribbling, looking for the right moment. From the others I want to see more.”
A comment on Douglas Luiz?
“He is a player of superior technical quality. He is doing well physically and he also allows us to rotate. We have so many games and the ones he has played in recent times he has come in well. Fagio will also get his opportunity if he keeps working. This allows me to rotate and get the most out of each of them.”
