During the holidays, a meeting took place in Santarcangelo di Romagna between Mayor Filippo Sacchetti and Atalanta’s general secretary, Santarcangelo di Romagna native Marco Semprini (featured in cover photo published by the Santarcangelo di Romagna municipality website), who donated a personalized Nerazzurri team jersey to the first citizen of the Romagna town.

Last Dec. 21, Semprini was honored by the mayor with a special mention “for his prestigious achievements as general secretary of Atalanta, last spring the first Italian team to win the Europa League and also thanks to him linked to Youth Santarcangelo, which is one of its soccer schools.” Among other things, the gift of the Nerazzurri jersey underscores the football link between the Santarcangelo and Bergamo sports clubs, born on the initiative of FC Young Santarcangelo itself, which since the 2022/23 season has been a partner of Atalanta BC for the development of the youth sector.
“I would like to thank Marco Semprini for giving me the Atalanta jersey with the number 1, a surprise that I did not expect and that I was very pleased about,” comments Mayor Filippo Sacchetti. “Semprini’s story, which we also wanted to tell during the end-of-year greeting, represents very well that of so many people who, starting from Santarcangelo, carve out a prominent role at the national or international level for their professional or other merits.
“Stories that, in addition to making us very proud, only enrich the experience of our community, also because they often still maintain a strong bond with the city, as in the case of Marco’s children who play in Young Santarcangelo, which also became one of Atalanta’s soccer schools thanks to him.”
